The short version, for the impatient.
I build Joomla templates and extensions, and I fix sites that are causing trouble. Accessible and easy to use. Not as an extra option, but from the start.
Even if the first contact often happens because something is broken: what I prefer is robust installations and working together over time. Permanent emergencies and sticking plasters are better left to someone else.
Martina Scholz
Works remotely, happy to talk about web components and Joomla. What I do
Four things I know how to do.
Templates and extensions that survive updates
Overrides and extensions that make it through a minor update. Sounds dull, but it saves money and nerves. Which is exactly the point.
Accessibility without the theatre
Focus outlines, contrast, keyboard paths, screen reader testing. No overlay widget papering over the problems.
Reading the core
I reproduce the error, work my way back and keep looking until the cause is on the table. Treating the problem, not just the symptom.
Structure and maintainability
A clear project structure, documentation that is actually correct, and on request tests that show whether everything still works. So that someone else could take over at any time.
Rather not
And four where you're better off asking someone else.
Designing logos
Mine took five attempts. There are designers with far more knowledge and experience. Animating it in the browser is my job again.
Just quickly, then
If you want a one-day quote for a week of work, you're in the wrong place.
Do ask anyway, and I'll tell you what is realistic.
Running servers
I work on your server, but I don't run it. I'm happy to help when it comes to talking to your host.
Meetings without a purpose
I'm happy to listen, as long as it's clear what this is about.
What I like best is a short note beforehand so I can prepare. Afterwards it should be clear how things go on.
talks & tutorials
No question is too simple, some explanations are too complicated.
If you want to know what working with me sounds like, here's a taste. And if you only came for the knowledge, feel free to take what you need.

Updates made easy
End-to-end tests with Cypress: knowing before the update whether everything still works afterwards. Explicitly for people who don't develop, too.

Debugging the Next Wave

Testing patches with GitHub Codespaces
Not a talk, but a step-by-step tutorial video: trying out a Joomla patch without setting anything up locally.
in the project
Where you'll find me.
Places where I actually show up in Joomla, voluntarily and unpaid. It keeps me up to date and tells me what is coming next. And it feels good to give something back.
